Get Involved in the YMCA!
For more info, contact the service desk at 665-1922.
Volunteer coaches have a great time and make a real impact on kids. If you love sports or just want to spend some time with kids, please help! If you’re a beginner, we can provide lesson plans for each practice and lots of encouragement and advice. Remember, it’s not about being the best athlete, it’s about teaching kids to love the game and feel great about being part of the team. Contact us at 665-1922.
Volunteers also provide after-school programs and mentoring, help with annual maintenance, work at special events and serve on the board of directors. If you have an interest in helping out, please fill out a volunteer application.
Consider sponsoring one of our youth teams this year! It's a great way to promote your business and do something good for kids. Your sponsorship money will help the YMCA keep program prices down so that all children can afford to play. The YMCA has a policy that we will not allow financial reasons to keep any child from participating. We offer scholarships for those families in need. Because of the generous contributions from local organizations, we can continue to offer quality programs.
The cost to sponsor one team is $125.00. For that contribution, your team will wear t-shirts with your logo displayed across the front. They will have team photos taken and we will make sure to send you a picture of your team. We will also send you a game schedule so you will know when your team is playing if you would like to come cheer them on.
The YMCA has five seasons of youth sports requiring sponsors: Fall Soccer, Fall Basketball, Spring Basketball, Spring Soccer and Spring T-ball. If you are interested in being a sponsor for all five sports (or any combination), the cost is $550.00, savings of $75.00. The benefits are the same for each season.
Each year the YMCA provides membership assistance to those with documented financial need. Last year we provided more than $26,000 in assistance, thanks to the United Way and gifts to the Strong Kids Campaign. All the money raised will help people right here in Kirksville.
We exist to share basic Christian principles like caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We call these our core values, and we make sure they are the basis for all we do. This mission and these Christian principles are what make the YMCA as unique and relevant to our community today as we were when it all started 40 plus years ago.
Please consider making a gift to the Strong Kids Campaign. The YMCA does not receive local, state or federal government funding – we are funded strictly through the local community. Your gift will be so meaningful for a deserving child or family.
Another way to get involved and help the YMCA is to keep us in your prayers! Please add the YMCA, our staff and our programs to your prayer list. It's our continuing prayer that everything we do and all the resources at our disposal will be used for His will.
