May 1963
A Steering Committee was formed to establish a YMCA
in Kirksville. Later that
summer a Founders Campaign
was concluded.
March
10, 1964 The Kirksville Family YMCA opened its doors
at 613 N.
Franklin.
June 1982 The YMCA leases the Racquetball Club on North Elson.
January 1983 The Facility was destroyed by fire.
November
16, 1983 The YMCA kicks off their $800,000 Capital
Campaign to
build the existing Facility.
August 4, 1986
Hollister Inc. donates 14.5 acres of land to the YMCA.
Adair County Family YMCA opens new doors in 1986.
July 14, 1992 Kirksville Savings & Loan, First National Bank of Kirksville, Bank of Kirksville and Community Federal Savings and Loan forgave the YMCA’s debt of an excess of $156,800.
December, 2006 New gym floor installed.
January, 2008 Strategic Planning Process initiated to explore facility needs/renovations/expansions.
June, 2008
YMCA purchases new weight room equipment and installs
air conditioning in an effort to improve the facility.
